What a shame that vandals have attacked this fine old building, it pleases me to say that this park seems to be on the up, with money being spent in many areas. I am sure there will be a 'grant' available somewhere for this and if there is then our council will seek it out.

Hi Perbs...
Thanks for stopping by again and taking the time to comment. These brick barns can be quite old... but to tell the truth I am not sure how old this one is.

Tom: That is a wonderful building to be in disrepair.

Hi Fishing Guy
I first saw this around 30 years ago... it was well on it's way to this state then... but then so much of the park. It seems our parks are again in favour and monety is being sought to get them back in shape.

Not sure why people do this vandalism but they do and sometimes it is older people who do it. More men and boys than women and girls. I wonder why?

Hi Abe... I can't think for the life of me why someone would want to destrot something... just because it is there. I am sure I could find better things to do that wreaking something.

Around here the vandals tend to be boys who want to "leave their mark." I have a couple of neighbours who remember breaking windows, painting bridges, that sort of thing. They are now horrified by what they did back then.

I love finding and taking pictures of old buildings. This is a nice collection of photos and it really is a shame about the vandals.

Hi EG..
I can understand the 'Leaving a mark' thing, ut when it come to destroying stuff I do find that hard to understand.
Hi James...
I was near here again today... but I was looking for shots of Autumn...

It is a shame that the building has been damaged. I hope it gets the repair work it deserves. What a lovely park, Tom.

Are the holes in the brick walls for ventilation or for pidgeons

Hello Sandy
I could fill a years full of blog post from my resent visits here... I am trying to get a few walks in while my health allows.. The park and it's woodland are very nice at any time of year... but I am a sucker for Autumn and its colours.

Hi Tom,
Your title says Hay Barn. It seems so small to store Hay. I too was wondering about the openings. I feel they would be for ventilation but the cross shape is unique.

shame on the graffiti was my first thought on watching these too.

Hi Carletta and Outhouse,
The holes are for ventilation, the designs on some can be elaborate.. but also need to follow the course work of the brick. As for size.. they are just like your wooden hay barns.... built to the size thats needed. I must try to find a few more to compare and do a post on them,

Lovely views of a sweet lady just needing a bit of TLC. I really like the views through the crosses.
Have a great week, Tom!
