I took up knitting years ago as a way to give up smoking... it didn't work but at least I learnt to knit. I have since given up smoking though. Anyhow ane was tidying up and wanted to know if I would ever get around to using some left over wool... and heres the result... one rather thick baby blanket... well winter is just around the corner now. Even after knitting this I still had some left over so this weekend I knocked up this little doll below...
Work In Progress

Great Post Tom and jolly good Blanket and Doll.
You are a jolly good Nitter, opps sorry- there I go again - I mean Knitter.
Sorry Tom but I couldn't help laughing at Imac's comments, very funny Imac. Wow Tom you put me to shame, I have knitted in years, well since I left England in 82. Reckon I wouldn't know where to start now! What a super dolly, made with love, it doesn't get better than that.
Whoops, should read haven't knitted!
What a wonderful job. bet the little granddaughter loves the doll.
Tom: I see a little one who will love your work. Mac was so funny.
Too clever by half! Glad you ditched smoking.
Can you fly a plane as well?
Wow Tom, those are nice works of your knitting. I wish I could knit as well as you but am now doing crocheting. I will try to attempt crocheting a toy. Thanks for sharing, Tom.
Wow - impressive !!!!
Ace knitting Tom! The blanket looks beautiful and no doubt the doll will get some features soon so it can see where it's going :-) I used to knit but it hurts my hands too much these days. (I really must teach imac to spell!) ;-)
Have a good week and say Hi to Jane xx
Cheers everyone... and Imac... well he just gets better and better..;O)
I am amazed, Tom, you are indeed a jack of all trades with your hands.
The blanket is going to be warm this winter sor some lucky little one AND the doll would make a terific Christmas present. It needs no button eyes and other features -- just perfect for a new baby. I am in awe of your skills!
Good on you Tom. When I stopped smoking I walked and dragged(really)the family dog for the walk to the point that he ran and hid when I called him for a walk!
Your blankie and doll are wonderful and such a nice legacy for your grandchild.
Smiles and blessings
Priceless!!! As a fellow knitter I shouldn't scoff, but who would have thought it when we were 16 ;) Well done!
Imac is in great form, I see! LOL
I like the blanket, and love that doll. Someone is going to love them!
You are very clever, Tom. And don't - DO NOT - pay any attention to Imac. (He is funny though, isn't he?)
Imac is very funny... and don't worry about me being offended by him... you should here what he calls me when we speck on the phone... :O)
Good for you, Tom. Wish I knew how to knit!
