Cobbles And Canals

Same place as yesterday, but I took the idea from Rune who commented yesterday on how the pictures might look good in B & W. So todays pictures and post are dedicated to my good friend from Norway...... if you have never visited Rune's Visual Norway then please do so... you will not be dissapointed

Thank you very much, Tom!! I feel honoured indeed for all those kind words. But the highest amount of praise must go to yourself for showing us how well suited these pictures are for monochrome. It is difficult to choose favourites, but if I should. I would choose No. 2 and No. 4. for the magnificent reflections, both of the canal and the smokestack.

Ir was a great pleasure.

Thank you Rune...
I agree about your choices.... as a matter of interest the chimney is all that is left from a mill... it as a protection order on it and can not be felled. This is a nice place to visit, as there's much history around the canal and it's wharfs.

Love the black and white photos. Again, hope you're having a Happy Birthday.

I am partial to colour Tom but your monochromes are lovely. I too like two and four. Happy Birthday? Well many happy returns!

Just beautiful.... Number 1 with the cobbled street and number 2 are my favourites.

The B&W takes us back in time, but I really like the color in the reflection of the chimney!

The pictures just look "old" in black and white. The same clarity is there and the same question I forgot to ask the last time in color.

What is the name of the person or persons who lay the cobblestones on the sidewalks and streets? It isn't a mason. But what is it?

RuneE has a good eye,a nd I agree a marvellous blof, but the Norwegians for me are all excellent photographers. Reminds me of Dudley and skiving school in the 5th year(or what ever year they want to call it now) and smoking those park drive I refered too.
