The original of this was from an old post card of bygone Hyde, this view shows St Georges Church and beneath the terrace homes on Woodend Lane. I treated this picture to a texture and drawing effect and I've shown it both here and on my Paintbox Pictures blog before.
This is Woodend Lane now, a 100 years or so later, the church is just visible behind the trees where the car is parked. The terraced homes are all still there and in very good repair. I notice the street light as changed from one side of the road to the other... and of course it is now electric and not gas as the original one. The road is now tarmac in in reasonable repair and to the left flats have been built. To the right are allotments.... but not all are now in use. Most have no livestock.... and few are well kept. A lot of the allotments have suffered vandalism, some have had the sheds burnt down which must have been heart rendering to the owners. A very sad sight it makes of what I have always known and found to be a nice part of Hyde.

This is interesting; I like seeing old and new, and comparing for changes.

Very interesting seeing the changes - I like the old one! Has a romantic kind of air to it - you can almost see the 'Quality Street' figures walking down the lane. ('Quality Street' chocolates and toffees which I'm sure originated in UK)
Nice work on the old postcard, Tom. It's fun to see the changes that have occurred over the past 100 years.
