Close Up Part 4




Abe asked yesterday what these plants are, I do not know their individual names but they are all Lichen, Moss, and Fungi.

I saw a very interesting TV programme about lichens. They're actually two plants in a symbiotic relationship, and are very slow growing. Some of the best measures of how slowly they grow have come from measuring their spread on old headstones.

Tom: This is another great set of photos. I was watching a "Nature" special on PBS and hummingbirds sometime make their nests from lichen and moss.
