A lot of our farms seem to be turning to horses for their main income, grazing and stablling fees must be more profitable that keeping dairy cows. When I first walked these fields 30 years ago each field would have had cattle grazing, but now theres only one in this area. Maybe it's a sign of the times as farmers stuggle to make a living.

Did you watch Folly Foot Farm in the 1970s?

You got some great shots of these beauties Tom.
I really like the sepia colored one and the last is marvelous!
I'm guessing Folly Foot Farm was a British show. I'll come back and see what's up. :)

Beautiful horses. I really enjoyed this post. I liked yesterday's too. I posted flowers with bees yesterday also. :-)

I was down Dunkirk Farm way yesterday and saw lots of horses grazing nearby - there was a chap mending a dry-stone wall.

Horses are such a noble beast. Here in the country their are still a few old teamsters that used horses in logging as well as farming the keep teams of draft horses as an act of love and remembrance.

Lovely, Tom. My favorites are the B&Ws. Very wonderful.

That is happening not only in Britain, but here as well. Agriculture is out - pushing shares, stocks and worthless papers is in.

Beautiful horses (and pictures) though :-)

Tom: Those are some neat shots of the horses, nice post work on them. I just got off the lake this morning and fillet the fish. I got mostly crappie, a few perch, a walleye and a channel cat.

Good morning Tom, More rain and craziness here so I am doing catch up on my blog reading. I have just spent some time going back on your posts and you have a wonderful blog, full of memories, love and passion about place and family. Thank you so much for sharing this.
I have thoroughly enjoyed your walk about of Matley.

We have a ton of horse farms in East Gwillimbury too. I figure it's because the Toronto area is growing by leaps and bounds and all those city dwellers need a place to play in the country and/or board their horses.
