Auricularia auricula:
This is a strange looking fungus and they can resemble an ear when they are fully grown Jelly Ears are in fact edible, my friend 'Big Pete' as eaten them many a time.... but then again he eats most things he comes across. The rubbery/gelatinous texture you sometimes get in "hot and sour soups and sauces" could well be this fungus It dose not have much of a flavor on its own, but will soak up flavors from what it is cooked with...
I like them on the tree... where as far as I'm concerned they can stay.. ha!

Yikes, I certainly wouldn't eat that, lol, doesn't look very appetizing. It really looks like an ear.
I'm with you, leave it on the tree. LOL
Van Gogh hasn't passed by? ;-)
I also thought of Van Gogh.
Or there's that film 'Blue Velvet' that started with a severed ear.
Now I'm just getting weird.
I've never seen that before. I'd be willing to try it if it was breaded and fried. :)
I never "mess around" (slang term -- Do random, unplanned work or activities or spend time idly) with things that grow on trees. And I don't pick mushrooms since to me the best looking mushrooms are "toad stools" (Common name for an inedible or poisonous agaric contrasting with the edible mushroom) are deadly and those are the ones I'd probably pick.
Pick a Peck of Pixels
I think I'll pass.... ;))
Tom: Those who know eat and if they don't die you can try it. Big Pete is a wid one.
I've never seen anything like that before. and I definitely wouldn't eat it :)
That looks like something that inpired JK.Rowlings extendable ears. A real fun fungus. I love mushrooms, but this one does not look like something I would class as a favourite.
That is just gross. It looks like something David Lynch would have in one of his films. If this was April 1st I would be sure this was a joke.
Ditto! What all the others said in their comments.
Leave it on the tree.
Thanks for the visit,
Troy
Big Pete is very brave. My first thought when I saw your picture was "Ewwww".
